» Miami New Times, an entertainment newspaper based in Miami caught up with the Diamond Princess recently and did an awesome article. This is a must read:

"I've known Trick Daddy for a while," Miami rap diva Trina says of the fortuitous friendship that gave her the first leg up in the fickle music industry. "We went to junior high school together, and we've always kept in touch. Trick was like the crazy dude. He was everybody's friend. We hung out and partied. Its like a family thing. I did dance a long time ago, but that was right after high school, and it wasn't for me," she says. "I've always been adventurous and I thought, How do I wanna make money? How am I gonna survive? I was doing a bunch of different things."

"Eventually I decided to get my real estate license. That seemed like the closest thing to reality. I could be sitting at a desk, working an office job," she continues. But then Trick asked me to be on his record, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I did the record with Trick and went back to my job at ERA Homeland Realty." "But then I went on the road with Trick, and that's what shifted my mind from real estate to music. I wanted to be an entertainer; I wanted to be on the big screen. I loved the cameras and the lights."

"My life has just excelled to another level. That's where the soft, melodic, or romantic songs come from. That's the inner part of me," she continues. "I have been in and out of love — I am human. I'm no different from nobody else. I have great days, horrible days, I get mad. You know, it's all part of being a human. I am always stepping my game up. Everybody can't do that."

» On Sunday, April 27, 2008 Trina performed for a huge crowd in sunny South Beach, FL for the 4th Annual Hooter's Energy Drink Beach Ball Festival. Still Got A Thing For Trina
Posted by Adrian on Thursday, May 08, 2008 | Comments (2)

» What is it about rapper Trina that keeps us wanting more? Is it the sex appeal or the sassy attitude? We see her in the videos and at award shows and she always leaves us wanting more of her glamorous life. BallerStatus.com caught up with Trina to discuss not only her album, but Trina the person. Her insecurities, her relationship with Lil Wayne and her alleged pregnancy, and lastly why she feels this album is her best work to date.

BallerStatus.com: Name one thing you don't like about your body.
Trina: To be honest with you, the one thing I really don't like is that I have really small breasts. It's annoying to me (laughs). It's just my own personal irritation. When I try to wear tops, I can't wear certain ones because they just don't look right. I hate it, but I would never say I wouldn't get my breasts done. Who knows about the future? It is something I think about. That is one of my biggest insecurities.

BallerStatus.com: Tell me something about yourself that your fans would not know.
Trina: I knew you were going to ask me that! I'm really shy until I get to know someone. I keep to myself. I'm quiet.

BallerStatus.com: Have you always been that way?
Trina: Yeah. I just shy away from people until I get to know them.

BallerStatus.com: I want to switch gears and go to the rumor mill. There were some rumors a little while ago about you being pregnant by Lil Wayne and a miscarriage. Was that true?
Trina: People always making rumors and it is always exaggerated to the fullest. That is like a personal part of my life I don't really care to discuss. I don't even know where they came with that. It is not everything that was said.

Forever Da Baddest
Posted by Adrian on Friday, April 11, 2008 | Comments (4)

» Sixshot got down and dirty with Trina as we talked the sonic departure of her first single, feeling trapped in her sexual image, why every man must provide for his woman, her real thoughts on gold diggers, learning to forgive, and more.

Sixshot: What’s the main difference between Katrina Taylor and Trina?
Trina: I think Katrina is more laid-back and regular in everyday life. Trina is a little exaggerated, it’s over the top, and over glamorous. Katrina is totally different from that. I’m still the same type of person overall and I don’t think that changes. I think it’s just the character or the image.

Sixshot: What’s the main similarity between Katrina and Trina?
Trina: I would just say who I am as a person—the realness. I came from the streets and hood. I’m now doing what I wanna do and expanding to such a big population, but who I am as an artist is the same person—I’m the same person inside.

Sixshot: You’re very much a self-made successful woman. Yet your lyrics paint a different picture. They either depict or encourage women to use men for money and get ahead in life. So should those lyrics be taken seriously or as pure entertainment?
Trina: Well it’s not really to use men for money. I wouldn’t say that’s a good term. I would say it‘s to empower women, like don’t be folded or fall for game. There are a lot of things that look glamorous and fabulous that women require and want. A lot of women aren’t that self-confident to go out and believe that you can do whatever you want, and get what you want. Along the way as a woman you’re gonna be in relationships and have boyfriends. So it’s about being smart and wise. Not to say I want to be with that person for the money—that’s not the case. But make sure you can stabilize yourself whether you’re a celebrity or not.

Sixshot: There are tons of rumors about females sleeping around in the business to get ahead and for publicity purposes. What are your thoughts on that and the girls that are involved in such tactics?
Trina: You can’t really say what people do in the industry. The industry is full of media, press, tabloids, and exploitation. It’s full of opinionated people that have so many things to say. You could stand next to somebody and take a picture and somebody say that you’re sleeping with him. I feel like that’s not fair. But it’s part of what the industry and what we do so you have to deal with that. If that is the case and you feel like you got to sleep with this person to get ahead then I really think you’re not getting no where. You may think you are, but it all comes to an end. At some point you have to pave your own way and work in order to get wherever you’re trying to go.

MP3.com Interview
Posted by Adrian on Friday, April 11, 2008 | Comments (2)

» Hard to believe, but it's been 10 years now since Trina first hit the scene with her seductive yet grimy verse on Trick Daddy's hit single "Nann Nigga." Now a seasoned vet and megastar in her own right, she discusses her eagerly anticipated fourth solo album, reflects on the magical swagger of her home city, and offers advice to young ladies hoping to break into the business.

MP3: Excellent. So, I know outside of the music that you have a lot of other endeavors. You've got your foundation. You've got the perfumes and your acting career and whatnot. Obviously right now you're pushing on the album and doing promo spots and stuff. But can you give us a little update on how your Diamond Doll Foundation is doing and your other ventures?
Trina: The foundation is actually doing great. I'm looking forward to launch the second annual Diamond Doll Day, which is in a couple of weeks. And I'm really excited about it because I'm excited to see how many more girls are going to participate this time and the questions and the panel and just the whole process of putting the whole thing together. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm sure it's going to be a much better experience this time than the first time and I'm looking forward to that challenge also.

I'm working on my clothing line and the perfume line. It's something I always wanted to do. The perfume is doing extremely well. And the clothing line, which is barely launched, it's really new, it's a denim line. It's called Pink Diamond Couture. I'm really excited about it. I love the way the designers are coming up with different ideas and they way the clothing's actually coming out. I'm just excited. I'm just waiting to see it actually hit the stores and for people to actually be able to purchase it and wear it and do the first fashion show and just put the whole thing together.

Those are, like, my main focuses, as well as the album. It's just a lot of work tied into one. But working in so many different areas has been, like, a great experience. I get to see the fun side, the music side, performing, and the serious sit-down business side of it, you know, putting together the clothing, making sure I like this sample, picking this, you know, "No, I'm not really feeling this." So it's been a great experience, especially with the time I had off, since my last album. So it's all coming along so great. I'm just really excited.

Trina to Khia: "Get Your Shit Together!"
Posted by Adrian on Wednesday, April 09, 2008 | Comments (19)

» YBF Atlanta correspondent Erica caught up with The Baddest herself Trina this weekend. And she graciously dished a bit about what’s going on in her world with the new album and somewhat new drama:

On the type of guys she’s attracted to:
"I like guys that are confident. They must have a certain swagger about them, style, and someone that can make me laugh. I love to laugh! I love to have fun so it’s important to me that the man that I am with understands that."

On a certain female rapper (Khia) having choice words for her and Trina's views on the hostility among female rappers:
"Honestly, I have no idea I’ve been in this business now 10 years strong. I’m not about games or anything else, I’m a headliner, I’m on magazine covers, all I have to say to others is Step your game up and Get your shit together. I’m focused on me. I’ve been through a lot. And this album represents that and my growth from Da Baddest to Still Da Baddest."
MiddleChild Promotions Interview
Posted by Adrian on Wednesday, April 09, 2008 | Comments (1)

» With the number of female rappers dwindling, one returns to show why she is “still the baddest” and what it takes to be taken seriously in a male dominated industry. MiddleChild spoke with Trina about her new album and what her fans can expect.

MiddleChild: Now we know you have a habit of working with strong females. You mentioned Keyshia Cole and Missy and you have worked with Kelly Rowland and Teedra Moses in the past also. Is this intentional on your part?
Trina: I just think there’s always a great message when women get together and they speak and people love that. We got beautiful people in the industry...women...their strong and I love the collaborations. I love the motivation and working with these artists. I’ve worked with almost every artist...every female that’s in the game right now and I’m very excited and blessed for that. I think it’s just always good to collaborate and get what’s on their mind off and let the world hear it.

MiddleChild: Do you feel your image has softened over the years?
Trina: I mean I just do me. I like whatever I like. I’m from Miami, the sunshine state. It’s warm. There are a lot of beautiful people. We get to wear sexy bathing suits and the dresses and not too much jackets. Everything is warm and beautiful and I feel like every year, every month, every other weekend or so I’m always changing and my image is always going to be different and sometimes on stage I may want to feel a little extra sexy and then you may see me in the mall and I may feel a little differently. I think the image for me is just what I’m feeling as I go each day.

That Grape Juice Interviews Trina
Posted by Adrian on Wednesday, April 09, 2008 | Comments (0)

» That Grape Juice was fortunate enough to catch up with the Diamond Princess herself, Trina, at the tail end of last year. During the course of their lengthy conversation, the Miami native discussed her latest effort Still Da Baddest, as well as a host of other issues including her much-publicised relationship with Lil' Wayne, her raunchy image, the female rap industry, Khia and much much more.

I would definitely check out the interview because it is one of the best interviews where you can listen to Trina for yourself. It is a long, yet very revealing interview so make sure you head to thatgrapejuice.net to read the interview!
